MADRID, 17 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Finnish ‘Astrée III’ and the Swiss ‘Momo’ lead the Classic and Open categories, respectively, after the dispute on the fourth day of the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds, which is being held in the waters of Sanxenxo, after two days without regattas due to in the absence of wind.
This Friday, the wind conditions in the Pontevedra estuary allowed the fleet to resume the fight for the coveted world title. In Classics there was a change of leader at the expense of the ‘Bribon 500’. The Finnish ‘Astrée III’ of Ossi Paija was the best in a day where he started with the first place.
Already in the second test, an out of line of ‘Bribon 500’ and ‘Essentia’ prevented the two favorites from fighting for the victory of the test and it was ‘Astrée III’ that added a first ahead of ‘Titia’ Alicia Freire, who has Mauricio Sánchez-Bella at the helm, and Louis Heckly’s French ‘Dix Aôut’, second and third respectively.
In the last race, the ‘Bribon’ 500 did not forgive and was placed at the head of the fleet from the beginning, managing to defend its position until the end and adding a new partial victory to its locker. They were followed in second and third place by ‘Dix Aôut’ and ‘Essentia’. With these results, the ‘Astrée III’ is placed at the top of the table tied on points with the second, ‘Dix Aôut’, and three points ahead of the third-placed ‘Aida’.
For its part, in the Open division, the fourth day of the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds served Dieter Schoen’s ‘Momo’ to settle in the lead with an advantage that allows him to caress the intercontinental title after just a few months competing in the 6 Meter class.
The first race of the day ended with Staffan Lindberg’s North American team, ‘Jane Ann’, adding their first partial victory ahead of Schoen’s, who were second, and John Harald’s Portuguese ‘Scoundrel One’, who finished third.
Violeta Álvarez’s ‘Stella’, on the other hand, was the fastest in the second round and also added her first victory ahead of the British ‘Valhala’ and the Swiss ‘Thisbe’, while the tables turned again in the third and last test with the partial triumph of the British ‘Battlecry of Jeremy Thorp’.
In this way, the ‘Momo’ continues in the provisional leadership, achieving an advantage of up to 12 points over its immediate pursuer, the ‘Junior’, and 16 over the ‘Stella’, which rose to the third podium this Friday. This Saturday the last day of regattas will be held and the awards ceremony will be held at the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo.
