The Appeals Committee reduces Battaglia's sanction to one match

The Appeals Committee accepted the allegations of Deportivo Alavés and decided reduce Rodrigo Battaglia's sanction from two to one game, that only the match against Huesca will be lost.

Initially, the Competition Committee agreed on Wednesday to sanction the Deportivo Alavés player Rodrigo Battaglia with two matches, after being sent off last day against Real Sociedad, for pointing out to a teammate that the referee, José Luis Munuera Montero, he was not going to whistle “no foul” to which he added “he's a blind man.”

The Argentine was expelled in the 60th minute of the Basque derby for this reason, but the Vitorian club claimed that the babazorro's statements should lacking disciplinary consequences, “inasmuch as it is a conversation between players of the same team, in the exercise of their freedom of expression, and without the statement being able to qualify as contempt or disregard for the referee.

Despite everything, the Committee rejected these claims from the Vitoria entity, which submitted its allegations to the Appeals Committee, that it has partially upheld the appeal presented.

From Appeal they are based on the fact that the offense committed by the player “is typical of article 119 of the Disciplinary Code (and not its article 117)”.

In this way, the Argentine will be available to visit Celta next week.
