The Andorra 2029 candidacy promotes the MenjAND project with Cáritas

BARCELONA, 5 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The technical committee of Andorra 2029, a candidature that aspires to host the Alpine Ski World Championships, promotes the MenjAND solidarity project together with Cáritas Andorrana to help people in a poor economic situation through the distribution of food.

“Andorra 2029 has been the ideologue of MenjAND in solidarity, an initiative that was launched this Wednesday with a first collaboration with Cáritas Andorrana”, announced the candidacy.

Beyond the promotion of the candidacy to qualify for the organization of the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2029, one of the axes set in the project is to join the work done by the institutions and work in favor of social welfare.

MenjAND is a social program that was born with the desire to help people who suffer from a difficult economic situation, and whose objective is to generate and distribute food among these groups.

One of the keys to moving forward with the project is limiting food waste at the Grandvalira station in the Canillo, Soldeu and El Tarter sectors, making it possible to reuse it by establishing a solidarity circuit so that it arrives in a nutritionally healthy way to these people and families.

The Grandvalira ENSISA restaurant team has delivered a total of 150 menus prepared in the resort kitchens to different users associated with the entity (pumpkin ravioli, cuttlefish meatballs and Perafita coca).

The promoter of the project, Àlex Orúe, explained that a lot of product and raw material is moved on a day-to-day basis at the station to provide service to customers. “We have been able to analyze what are the possible surpluses that at some point in the season, especially in the final stretch, we can have,” he valued.

“We are interacting with the entities that offer social services, which have identified these people who suffer from this situation, and this makes it easier for us to reach these users to be able to cover some of these needs with food,” he said.

This is the commitment in which the Andorra 2029 candidacy team works, so that they ensure that the food that the clients of the ski resort reach the group of people who need it, who are linked to different associations in the country they will not consume and they would become surplus.

The vice-president of Cáritas Andorrana, Canòlich Baró, received the initiative with “great enthusiasm”, which she said she wanted to do “for a long time”. “These foods already cooked between today and tomorrow will come out of there so that these people can celebrate Holy Week,” she said.

Different actors intervene to make this solidarity circuit possible: the station as promoter of the project and the production of the menus; the suppliers that contribute food; people who are in a situation of vulnerability; and the social agents such as the entities and associations that have a direct link with these groups.
