BARCELONA, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The American tennis player Ben Shelton, currently number 12 in the world, has confirmed his participation in the fifth edition of the Mallorca Championships 2025, in the third time he will play the only ATP tournament that is played on grass in southern Europe and that will be held this year from June 21 to 28.
“Mallorca is one of my favorite grass tournaments, and I am very excited to return there for the third time,” Shelton said in a video provided by the organizers of the tournament during the presentation of the event at the ITB International Fair of Tourism in Berlin (Germany).
This will be the third participation of the American in the Mallorcan tournament, where last year he fell eliminated in the quarterfinals in front of the British Paul Jubb (3-6, 6-3, 6-7 [8]) after having won the Australian Rinky Hijikata in two sets. While in his debut in the tournament he lost in his first meeting in front of his compatriot Christopher Eubanks.
Atlanta’s tennis player is demonstrating a great state of form at this start of the season, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open where he lost to the Italian Jannik Sinner (7-6 (2), 6-2, 6-2), a rival who also defeated him last year in the round of 16 Wimbledon.
Shelton’s confirmation adds to the already known Norwegian Casper Ruud, current number 5 in the world, and those of the Australian Nick Kyrgios and the Frenchman Gaël Monfils, which are part of the poster of the tournament that will be played from June 21 to 28 at the Mallorca Country Club.
