The Alavés-Atlético de Madrid match was played by a miracle

A truce. That is what the meteorology gave to the game between Alavés and Atlético de Madrid. Could be played without problems thanks to the work of fifteen operators led by Scottish specialist John Stewart, who has also worked on golf courses. After the snow and frost on Friday and Saturday, A series of activities were carried out in the stadium that allowed the match to be played. Atleti arrived in Vitoria with the snow-covered airport, lived with the white cloak on Saturday night and throughout Sunday, played the game at 4:15 p.m. and left Foronda on a private charter flight with victory.

But this morning, shortly before 9, has started to precipitate again in large quantities and the whole city has been engulfed in chaos traffic, pedestrian falls to the ground, visits to hospital emergency rooms and changes of plans during a working day. Alavés has not been able to train at the José Luis Compañón Sports City because the amount of snow that has fallen has been enormous. Even having to travel to La Coruña to play the Copa del Rey match is not ruled out against Dépor on Wednesday at 7pm. It is illogical to continue training indoors when you can work in the Galician town.

Mendizorroza has returned to dawn with a blanket of snow which in this case is not going to be removed since the team does not play at home for a couple of weeks. On Wednesday he will do it in Coruña and on Sunday he will visit Cádiz. Then there will be a league break. Also, it makes no sense to clean the field when more snowfall is expected in the next few hours and in the next few days. During the past weekend, Vitoria had up to 15 cms. of snow and in some localities of the province, reached 40. Right now there are several closed mountain passes and chains are needed to travel through the main and secondary road network.

It was miraculous that the Alavés-Atlético de Madrid was played on the day and on the hour. Having seen what was seen, it was a fluke. The rojiblanco team scored the winning goal in the 90th minute through Luis Suárez and won 1-2. The television cameras gave an unreal vision of the city of Alava because outside, in the parking lot of the stadium without going any further, there was a lot of snow. In the center of the city it was melting but in the less traveled places of Vitoria there has been a white blanket since Saturday afternoon. And what's coming is even worse.
