The aim smiles at Tenerife in the Canarian ‘playoff’

MADRID, 1 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Tenerife beat Las Palmas (1-0) this Wednesday in the first leg of the semifinal playoff in search of promotion to LaLiga Santander, a minimal advantage that it gained at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López thanks to José León’s goal in the first part.

The local success commanded the start of a series that will be decided in Gran Canaria this Saturday with the second leg. The first round of the Canarian derby could have fallen from either side, but Ramis’ men kept the match in front of their fans with a goal from León in the 36th minute.

The blue and white team started pressing hard, which gave them better results, and looking for a quick arrival after recovering the ball. Viera and Kirian gave the possession and the football that the visiting team was looking for, enclosing the rival little by little.

Then came the clear chance of Las Palmas, with Jesé also appearing in depth. Viera had it but Moore took it out almost under the sticks and in the next one it was Tenerife, with a ball to the crossbar by Enric Gallego, who was able to open the can.

In a ball into the area that the yellow defense did not clear, León made it 1-0 with a shot that deflected the Mfulu net. The goal reminded Ramis’s men of the intensity in their game that they needed so that Las Palmas did not send or gain meters with possession.

Before the break, León was once again the protagonist but in his own goal, scoring another amazing goal from Las Palmas, this time from Cardona. García Pimienta’s men came out the same after the restart, with two immediate arrivals, but as the minutes went by they ran out of depth.

Gallego caused a lot of problems, with Tenerife looking for the set piece well and not needing much to reach the rival goal. Maikel Mesa became a benchmark up front, but Las Palmas tried it from afar, with Kirian, without specifying with precision or success.

The tension of the derby, which appeared in every corner and every touch, like one between Valles and Andrés, the changes, the game was running out of history. Tenerife found an advantage in their physical display and Las Palmas, who came from 11 games without losing, has the consolation that playing the final of the ‘playoff’ is decided at home.
