In this sense, the organization chaired by Víctor Francos highlighted through a press release its contribution to this long-standing event. “This event has the support of the Government of Spain, through a nominative subsidy from the CSD to the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica AC24 in the amount of 18 million euros,” said the note.

The president of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, Lluïsa Moret, was also present at the event; the president of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó; the president of Barcelona Tourism, Eduard Torres, and the ‘counselor’ for Business and Work of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Roger Torrent, as president of the Barcelona Capital Nàutica Foundation.

“We are a Mediterranean city open to the world, dynamic and cosmopolitan, with a rich gastronomic, sports and cultural tradition,” said Juan Luis Ruiz, and then thanked “all the institutions” for hosting this event in Vilanova i la Geltrú.

Grant Dalton, CEO of America’s Cup Events, was happy to have chosen Barcelona as the venue. “We had no idea how good that decision was to be able to sail in Catalonia. As we have seen in today’s regattas, it has been simply spectacular; and, with your extraordinary support, the 37th America’s Cup will be a classic in the most perfect,” he predicted.

Pere Aragonès closed the institutional event: “This event has a worldwide impact, making it a great opportunity for the dynamism and progress of our economy.” “It is an excellent opportunity to project our country to the world,” finally added the president of the Catalan Generalitat.
