The La Daurada complex in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) hosted this Thursday at the AC37 Hospitality Club the institutional reception of the America’s Cup, whose 37th edition began with Emirates Team New Zealand dominating the official training of the Preliminary Regatta.
The act was attended by the president of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès; the president of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos; the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the mayor of Vilanova i la Geltrú, Juan Luis Ruiz.
In this sense, the organization chaired by Víctor Francos highlighted through a press release its contribution to this long-standing event. “This event has the support of the Government of Spain, through a nominative subsidy from the CSD to the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica AC24 in the amount of 18 million euros,” said the note.
The president of the Provincial Council of Barcelona, Lluïsa Moret, was also present at the event; the president of the Port of Barcelona, Lluís Salvadó; the president of Barcelona Tourism, Eduard Torres, and the ‘counselor’ for Business and Work of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Roger Torrent, as president of the Barcelona Capital Nàutica Foundation.
“We are a Mediterranean city open to the world, dynamic and cosmopolitan, with a rich gastronomic, sports and cultural tradition,” said Juan Luis Ruiz, and then thanked “all the institutions” for hosting this event in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
