The 2023 MLB MVP prizes go to Shohei Ohtani of the Angels and Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Braves.

On Thursday, Shohei Ohtani, a two-way player for the Los Angeles Angels, and Ronald Acuña Jr., a right fielder for the Atlanta Braves, won the American League or National League MVP awards, respectively. They were two of baseball’s biggest stars.

The 2021 season for Ohtani wowed everyone in baseball. Everyone saw the unique individual he was during that year, which was his “breakout.” There was no question that everyone would vote him MVP that November.

His 2023 was better, though. This year’s results, on the other hand, are clear. This year, his OPS+ and ERA+ were better.

His WHIP proved 1.061 and his OPS was 1.066. He is the very first MVP in the history of the big leagues to be chosen by everyone twice.

The Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Thursday that Shohei Ohtani was voted the American League Player of the Year by all voters. This is his second prize in three years.

In the National League, Ronald Acuña Jr. of the Atlanta Braves won his first MVP award, which was also unanimous. He did this by becoming the initial player within major league history to drive in at least 40 home runs as well as steal at least 70 bases.

Ohtani, on the other hand, makes history almost every time he goes on the field. He is now going to take the highest honor into a new area: free agency.

He pitched for as long as he could until, for his second time in six years, an injury to the ulnar collateral ligament on his throwing arm kept him off the mound.

But Ohtani, the pitcher, was one of the best within the major leagues in 23 starts. He struck out 167 batters in 132 innings, had a 3.14 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, as well as won 10 games for the Los Angeles Angels, who only won 73.

Sadly, he will have to make do for what was probably the best season in baseball’s history all around. He will then join Bryce Harper as well as Mike Trout as current players who have won more than one MVP award. And he will soon be paid the right amount.

After surprising baseball with an unmatched mix of great hitting and great pitching, a two-way star won the league’s highest award on Thursday, becoming the first player to win the award twice and be chosen by everyone as the Most Valuable Player.

The star free agent Ohtani made the announcement on Major League Baseball Network while holding a dog. He did not talk on the media call that was supposed to follow.

Major League Baseball stated Ohtani wasn’t available because of things he couldn’t change.

He hasn’t talked to reporters as August 9, just before he hurt his arm while throwing and had to have surgery. He won’t be able to throw again until 2025.

Before Ohtani suffered an injury while play for the Angels of Los Angeles as well as had surgery on his right arm in September, a lot of people thought he might get the first $500 million deal in baseball history.

Ohtani had surgery for a Tommy John in October 2018, but his representative, Nez Balelo, failed to disclose all the facts after the surgery.

Ronald Acuña Jr. of Atlanta got the award for the National League. This was the first time as the awards ceremony began in 1931 that everyone agreed on who won in each league. 21 people have agreed on who the MVP is.

Corey Seager came in second with 264 points and 24 second-place votes. Marcus Semien, who plays for Texas, came in third with 216 points and 5 second-place votes. Before the playoffs, that is, before the Rangers claimed their first World Series.

Ohtani hit.304 with 96 RBIs, eight triples, as well as 20 stolen bases in a season that ended on September 3 due to an oblique injury. He led the AL with 44 home runs.

Before he tore the collateral ligament of the ulna in his right arm on August 23, he had 23 starts and went 10-5 with a 3.14 ERA. In 132 innings, he struck out 167 batters and walked 55.
