The 15 Km MetLife Madrid Activa breaks its participation record

Juan Ignacio Martínez Gil and Sara Reglero Marcos take the victory and Europa Press wins in the press category

More than 4,500 athletes have participated this Sunday through the center of Madrid in the eighth edition of the 15 km MetLife Madrid Activa, which has broken its participation record and has crowned Juan Ignacio Martínez Gil and Sara Reglero Marcos as winners of the men’s categories and feminine.

Martínez Gil stopped the clock in 49:29 and Reglero Marcos did it in 54:31, all in a test held from Paseo de la Castellana, at Juan Hurtado de Mendoza street, and with a finish line at the Explanada de la Selection, in Madrid Rio.

At the starting line, the technical director of the race, Abel Antón, was accompanied by Oscar Herencia, vice president for southern Europe and general director of MetLife in Iberia and by Nora from Liechtenstein and Fátima Guzmán, honorary president and director. founder, respectively, of the Active Education Foundation.

The race reiterated its support for the work of the Fundación Educación Activa, thanks to the donations that, for the second time, the runners have been able to make at the time of registration, and which will be supplemented by the organization based on the final results obtained. . The contributions will go towards scholarships for the treatment of ADHD for families without resources.

In this edition, the presence of women reached almost 31% of the registrations (1,642). Likewise, as is traditional, the 15Km MetLife Madrid Activa gave rise to a second race within the main one, the one disputed by the representatives of the press teams; Europa Press took the victory ahead of RTVE +activa and Runner’s World, in a test in which ABC, Onda Cero and newspaper AS also participated.

All the participants who reached the goal received a ‘finisher’ medal courtesy of MetLife in a race that is an example of sustainability, to which the organization’s hybrid vehicles, from Toyota Motor Gamboa, and the Alsa shuttle buses that favor the mobility of runners between the start and finish lines.

El Corte Inglés was in charge of supplying the fruit offered at the end of the race refreshments (1,152 kg of bananas) and the cloakroom, while the drinks were provided by Coca Cola (15,000 bottles of water and 6,000 Aquarius). In addition, the runners were able to download the photographs on their mobile phones, taken at the start, finish and some emblematic points of the route, thanks to the collaboration agreement with Pica Technology, through Pixport, their distributor in Spain. In total, this company recognized -up to now- 3,120 participants and produced 14,320 snapshots of them in places such as Plaza de Colón, Cibeles, Puerta de Alcalá or the boulevards.
