TENNIS Alcaraz defeats Monteiro and caresses the final phase of Cincinnati

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro (number 94 of the ATP ranking) and will play the last round of the qualifying phase of the Cincinnati Tournament.

The Murcian tennis player got rid of the Brazilian in two sets (6-2 and 6-3) with comfort. Alcaraz managed to break Monteiro's first serve, allowing him to go ahead on the scoreboard throughout the first set. Already in the second, with 2-1 on the scoreboard, he managed to break his opponent's serve again and won comfortably.

Thus, Alcaraz took revenge after Monteiro defeated him last February at the Melbourne Tournament 7-6 (3), 6-3.

The Spanish tennis player will face Belarusian Ilya Ivashka on Sunday, who beat the American Krueger (3-6, 6-3 and 3-6), in the last match of the qualifying phase. This will be the first match between the two tennis players.
