The Tenerife Sports Club has saved a point in its visit to the Cartagena Football Club by tying a game in which it has been subjected until its rival has suffered the avoidable expulsion of Dauda, in the 32nd minute of the second half, an action that the black and white team has paid by conceding the chicharrero goal in inferiority, after having been clearly superior until that moment.
With this result the canaries are fourth, with 34 points; and the ninth Cartagena, provisionally, with 26.
Efesé went out to the field to command and theirs were the domain and the best chances. In the opening quarter of an hour, Juan Soriano, the visiting goalkeeper, had to intervene with shots from Sergio Tejera and De Blasis and later Pablo Vázquez, just off a corner; and Dauda, in a transition, did not specify their shots on two other clear occasions for Luis Carrión’s.
Tenerife, which was harassed at times, was also projected with some danger and warned in attack through Enric Gallego and Elady, but neither one nor the other found a goal.
In the resumption the same trend was maintained and Rubén Castro was able to score, but the visiting defense got in the way. Elady replied without aim and immediately afterwards it was 1-0, scored by Álex Gallar, taking advantage of a good pass from De Blasis to culminate a raid with a great shot after a quality cut. The ball, after touching the post, entered the chicharrera goal.
Seeing themselves from behind on the scoreboard, the insular team stretched lines and Luis Miguel Ramis made changes to seek reaction, with Míchel Herrero and Samuel Shashoua entering in place of Aitor Sanz and Rubén Díez.
Víctor Mollejo put Marc Martínez to the test, while De Blasis, with a deflected shot, had the possibility of increasing the black and white advantage in a match that was opening at times.
Luis Carrión’s men had the game more or less controlled, despite their meager advantage, but an error by Dauda, who saw the second yellow card for a tackle on Juan Soriano, cost him the second yellow card and the subsequent red card in the minute 77.
That action and the entry into play of Moore changed the game. The insular team, which had been clearly dominated, believed it and went around the tie with a deflected header by Enric Gallego. This same player ended up tying in the 87th minute taking advantage of a Moore cross in anticipation of Pablo Vázquez.
In this way, Tenerife scratched a point in a clash in which it was at the mercy of its rival while the confrontation was eleven against eleven.
