Tebas, on Málaga: “Their situation is almost good”

Javier Tebas has signed this lunchtime with Javier Imbroda, Minister of Education and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, a collaboration agreement between both institutions to promote the training and social development of sport. The presentation of said agreement took place at the headquarters of the Andalusian Sports Institute in Malaga and after it, Tebas has responded to questions from the media and referred to the current situation of Malaga, which he described as “ almost good ”.

“Málaga's situation starts from a couple of complicated seasons and what has been done, with rigorous economic criteria, is to put an adequate situation so that next season, if we are out of the pandemic, we return to adequate numbers to Malaga, not those that are when a club is in the First Division or in the first years it descends, but appropriate to a club based on its number of subscribers and a city like Malaga. He started from a difficult situation and is now in an almost good situation”, Explained the president of LaLiga.

Tebas also highlighted the work of José María Muñoz, the club's judicial administrator: “When a club is demoted and does not return in three seasons, it has a significant economic squeeze. It was necessary to put the scissors and this is what has been done from the judicial administration, to adapt to the income and expenses and even with an ERE that very few are made in the field of football and I thought it was very good that it was done. They are rights that you have and why you are not going to do it. If we divide the points that Málaga has according to its salary limit, it would be the most optimal team in the category. As long as there is judicial administration as it is, the situation of Malaga does not worry. The judicial administrator has given stability to the club and the conflicts between the shareholders, so that they fight where appropriate, which are the courts, which is what civilized people do ”.

Questioned by the end of the sanction that weighs on Malaga and that has limited the number of professional chips to 18, Tebas specified that “it is not a sanction, it is a rule of economic control that prevents you, when you are exceeding your mass salary, bring more players and you set the limit set in the collective agreement. We have to see what happens with the pandemic next year. Malaga is a city with a significant number of subscribers, its income from ticketing is important. It may happen that you improve your salary limit dramatically”. Y Will it have more than 18 professional files ?: “If the evolution of the pandemic allows Malaga to sell ticketing, season tickets and tickets, we would have to see some more circumstances but it is very likely that it could be”.
