Talavera approves becoming a sports corporation

The members of the CF Talavera de la Reina approved yesterday to start the process for the conversion of the blue and white club into a sports corporation (SAD). The Board of Directors chaired by José Antonio Dorado managed to carry out the vote by an overwhelming majority of votes: 232 in favor, 30 against and 7 abstentions. Approximately a quarter of the social mass of Talavera attended the Extraordinary Assembly, which was held outdoors in the stands of the tennis courts attached to El Prado to comply with sanitary measures.

Although the result of the vote only implies the beginning of the procedures for the transformation into SAD, which will take between six and nine months to complete, members' decision will have short-term implications for the club's future. An investment group aspires to acquire a majority share package and take over the management of the club. It includes businessmen from the city and former First Division referee Muñiz Fernández.

The former Asturian referee, although born in Brussels, César Múñiz Fernández, in one of his last games in the First Division: a Levante-Betis at the Ciutat de Valencia in March 2014.

While the conversion proceeds, The group will offer support to the club to face with guarantees this next season 2020-2021. The estimates of the Directive project a budget of one million euros, compared to half a million that could have been posted if yesterday's vote had not gone ahead. The approval of both the budget for the following campaign and the accounts of this one must be ratified in an ordinary assembly to be held in the coming weeks.

In the strictly sports field, the project is awaiting the appointment of a coach for the first team, after it was announced that Fran Alcoy will not continue in the club after six seasons on the Blue and Whites' bench. The main candidate to take over the Talabrican wardrobe is Víctor Cea (former coach of Melilla, Cultural Leonesa and Unión Adarve), although the investment group has also released the names of Milinko Pantic and Lolo Escobar.

In addition to the permanence of the first team in Segunda B, Juvenil del Talavera will compete next season in the Honor Division. The team achieved promotion by being second ranked behind Albacete B when the competition was suspended in Group XV of the National League.
