Taberner is still sweet

Carlos Taberner (22 years old, Valencia) is a survivor. It grows in the face of adversity, a stamp of identity that is scarce in tennis. After signing a feat last Friday before Pablo Andújar (going back an adverse 5-1 in the second set with six match balls against), the Valencian proved for one more day that he is sweet to beat Roberto Carballés on the second day of the MAPFRE League male that takes place at the Valencia Tennis Club: 6-3 and 6-1.

But the beginning did not augur a duel as comfortable as it finally turned out for Taberner, who had a hard time entering the game. Carballés was looser and imposed his law, but Carlos quickly returned to give a lesson in mental strength. With the adverse 1-3, the local tennis player went for the comeback and took the quarter 6-3. But the recital did not end there.

Carballés finished deranged, with punches that his bench paid for. Across the track, Taberner followed suit, a record that allowed him to chain up to nine games in a row (until 4-0 of the second set) and take the game with pleasure against a Carballés who could only avoid the donut. And this is how In just 24 hours, the Valencian has defeated two top-100s of the ATP ranking as Andújar (nº 53) and Carballés (nº 99), despite not having any title in his career and having a clearly lower ranking (175º). Taberner, prophet in his land, augurs a promising future.

Rest of the day

In the second match of the day, the red team led by Albert Ramos took the lead by 5 points to 3, thanks to the Pedro Martínez's victory over Jaume Munar in three sets: 6-3, 5-7 and 10-3. The duel, with many ups and downs on the part of both, was resolved in a super tiebreak, where the Valencian answered his doubts of the second set (he had two serves to resolve the clash) to close the victory.

But after, Alejandro Davidovich tied for the white team (5-5) with his overwhelming victory against Pablo Andújar (6-1 and 6-2) in the absence of the doubles match. The tournament will be decided this Sunday with the last three individual matches, where each win is worth three points.
