Swiatek remains intractable and conquers Miami against Osaka

The new world number one lifts her third title in a row

MADRID, 3 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek beat the Japanese Naomi Osaka (6-4, 6-0) in just over an hour and won the Miami tournament, category 1,000 for the WTA, the third title in a row and in this category for the new number one in the world.

After triumphing in Doha and two weeks ago in Indian Wells, Swiatek doubled in the United States with a dazzling victory in the final in Miami, the sixth title under his belt. The 20-year-old Pole knocked down an Osaka in just over an hour that seems back to the best version of her, not this Saturday.

The former number one gave in with a crash to a Swiatek who has 17 wins in a row and finds no rival. The Pole didn’t give her rival a single ‘break’ option and kept pressing from the first game of the final until she broke the Japanese serve in the fifth.

Osaka endured but did not worry the rest and in the second set she fell apart with a donut against the best tennis player of the moment. Swiatek rounded off his climb to the top of the rankings with an exhibition, which he had already assured since his first match in Miami.
