Sweden honors Eriksen before taking on Spain

Sweden captain Sebastian Larsson sent his team's best wishes to Christian Eriksen, who collapsed and lost consciousness on Saturday during the Eurocup match between his Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen. The Danish midfielder remains hospitalized and is progressing well, although he will remain hospitalized. Sweden is the first rival of Spain in the Eurocup and they are measured this Monday.

Sweden's national team had just arrived in Seville for their first group stage match against Spain on Saturday when its members learned of Eriksen's collapse and his transfer to hospital after CPR on the pitch, and 36-year-old Larsson , struggled with her emotions as the press conference began.

“I would just like to say a few words about the terrible event that happened yesterday (for Saturday). The news reached us very quickly when we landed, it was a terribly uncomfortable feeling, “Larsson told reporters.

“When something like this happens, there are no rivals or different nationalities, only colleagues and human beings. All our thoughts and our love and our strength to Christian, his family and the entire Danish squad, ”added Sebastian Larsson.

The Swedes took pictures of themselves at their training session with a banner with the words “Fight, Christian” in Swedish, as a gesture of support.

“You don't feel good in any way. You think about Christian and his family, it's a terrible situation that you can't put yourself in. There are things in this world that show that sports are not the most important thing in life, ”added Larsson. .

Little was said at the press conference of Monday's Group E clash with Spain when coach Janne Andersson and Larsson addressed the media. Instead, Sebastian Larsson carried out a reflection on how the physical health of footballers is managed.

“They check us regularly. You must have x number of (cardiac) events ready before championships and regular club season. I'm sure I've done the necessary tests, ”Larsson said.
