Susana Rodríguez, Dani Molina and Eva Moral, European triathlon champions

MADRID, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Spaniards Susana Rodríguez and Dani Molina continued their great sporting form and after being proclaimed Paralympic champions a few weeks ago, they did so this Sunday in Europe, in an event where Eva Moral was also crowned and Marta Francés, Nil Riudavets and Héctor Catalá also won medals.

Without leaving France, in the town of Vichy, the Galician and the Madrid native lived up to their favourites and won their fifth and seventh continental titles after dominating the test for triathletes with visual disabilities and the PTS3 class for triathletes with physical disabilities.

Rodríguez did not win with as much authority as she did on September 2 at the Pont Alexandre III, but she dominated from start to finish and clocked a time of 1:04:43, almost a minute faster than the silver medalist, Frenchwoman Annouck Curzillat.

Molina had a tougher fight with German Max Gelhaar, who he had beaten by a wide margin at the Paris Games, but who this time put up more resistance after taking on the running race with a good lead. But the Spaniard once again proved to be the strongest in that part and ended up winning with a time of 1:05:30, with a 12-second lead over his rival.

The event in the French town produced another European champion in the figure of Madrid native Eva Moral, who repeated her 2023 title in Madrid by winning the category for wheelchair triathletes, beating local Francis Mona by just over a minute in a race that only had three participants.

In addition, the European Championships left other medallists such as Marta Francés from La Mancha, who repeated her Paralympic silver by finishing second in PTS4 behind the British Megan Richter, champion in Paris 2024. Runner-up was Nil Riudavets, bronze at the Games, in PTS4, while Héctor Catalá completed the haul at the event with a bronze in the event for triathletes with visual impairments. Andrea Miguélez (PTS5) and Lionel Morales (PTS2) were fourth.
