Susana Rodríguez and Dani Molina head Spain’s list for the Paralympic Triathlon World Cup in Malaga

MADRID, 16 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Triathletes Susana Rodríguez and Dani Molina head the list of the Spanish delegation for the Paralympic Triathlon World Cup, which will be held on October 21 in Malaga and which counts towards the classification of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

In the event, framed within the Test Event co-organized by the Spanish Triathlon Federation and the Government of Andalusia, Spain will be the largest delegation with a total of 19 athletes, thanks to the collaboration of Santalucía and the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE) and of Caixabank with its Paralympic Promises project.

The call is made up of José Cristóbal Ramos (Paralympic Promise) and Manuel Alfonso Betancor, in the PTWC category; Lionel Morales and Javier Vergara (Paralympic Promise), in PTS2; Dani Molina and Kini Carrasco, in PTS3; Alejandro Sanchez Palomera and Bartomeu Caldentey (Paralympic Promise), in PTS4; Jairo Ruiz and Cristian Pérez (Paralympic Promise), in PTS5; Héctor Catalá and José Luis García, in PTVI; Eva Moral, in PTWC; Rakel Mateo, in PTS2; Marta Francés and Carmen Gonzalez (Paralympic Promise), in PTS4; Cristina Miranda (Paralympic Promise) and Andrea Miguélez (Paralympic Promise), in PTS5; and Susana Rodríguez, in PTVI.

For now, only Dani Molina from Madrid has his place guaranteed for these 2024 Paralympic Games thanks to the world champion title he achieved at the end of September in Pontevedra. “I’m going to Malaga to see the circuit, which is sure to be amazing. And of course, winning two World Championships in a row in Spain would be the bomb,” he said.

The technical manager of Paralympic triathlon of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), Samuel García, recalled that other triathletes can approach the Olympic event. “Other athletes in a very good situation to be in Paris, although they have not yet obtained their passport, are those who achieved the podium in that World Cup, such as Marta Francés and Susana Rodríguez, or those who were fourth: Nil Riudavets, Lionel Morales and Eva Moral. All of them will be in the fight for the Paralympic medals next year,” he noted.

Performing a great role in Malaga would leave these Paralympic athletes “touching the classification with the tips of their fingers,” indicated the coach, which would allow them to “save long and complicated trips to events such as Devonport in Tasmania or Samarkand in 2024.”

The Paralympic Triathlon World Cup in Malaga will be one of the three competitions of the Test Event, which will also bring together the FETRI ProTour and the last stop of the PHO3NIX KIDS by Javi Gómez Noya, whose registrations remain open until October 19.
