‘Sunday Night Football’ matchup between the Cowboys and the Eagles: live updates, game numbers, highlights, and analysis

Mike McCarthy, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, had surgery on Wednesday to remove his appendix. He enjoyed to stay home from practice for two days.

But his decisions about the offense and how to run the game were pretty much perfect within the first half during the Cowboys’ rematch in the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Dallas led 24-6 at halftime.

The Cowboys enjoyed four drives in the first half. They scored three touchdowns, kicked a field goal, converted a fourth-down, and successfully disputed a call that said they were one yard short for the end zone, which led to a running touchdown.

McCarthy’s offense got the ball first and marched into the field for 75 yards within 10 plays. Pro Bowl wide CeeDee Lamb scored on a catch-and-run from 13 yards out to end the drive.

It took quarterback Jalen Hurts 11 yards to get a first down on a run. He did a good job of it. But Donovan Wilson, a safety for the Cowboys, pushed the ball loose that the end of that run and picked it up for the first turnover of the night.

The extra drive was capped by a 60-yard field goal by rookie kicker Brandon Aubrey, who now has 27 of 27 on-field goals within his short career.

Dallas had a 10-0 lead after only four plays, with two of them being offensive. The biggest first-quarter field goal ever made in the NFL was by Aubrey, going 60 yards.

The previous record was 59 yards, set by Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evans McPherson within Week 1 of the 2022 season towards the Pittsburgh Steelers.

While the Cowboys were on third-and-5 from their 34, Hurts hit A.J. Brown in the hands, but it went through his hands.

This would have been a huge gain and an important first-down on the next drive. Jake Elliott kicked a field goal from 52 yards out for the Eagles, tying the game at 10-3.

The Cowboys answered with a touchdown from Rico Dowdle that was good from 1 yard out. When it came time for third down and goal, Dallas scored the second goal of the night, making the score 17-3.

It took 44 yards for the Eagles to kick a field goal, ending another drive. With 1:48 left of the half, Prescott and his team got the ball back. The first drive for Philadelphia did not end with a touchdown.

This rematch between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles has been planned for more than a month. Dallas seems to be very angry ever since they lost 28–23 during Lincoln Financial Field in Week 9.

It will be a tie for first place in the NFC East if Dallas can pull off a win after a strong start. The divisional title is at stake, and both teams also want to be the first spot in the NFC playoffs.

Sunday night, a lot is at stake. May the best group win. Yahoo Sports will keep you up to date on the latest Sunday Night Football news, scores, and highlights.

Dallas’ defense forced things extra hard for Philadelphia by forcing quarterback Carson Wentz to rush, make tough throws, and scramble all the time.

After 26 passes, Wentz completed 16 of them, gained 191 yards, and scored a touchdown. However, he also threw an interception, lost two fumbles, or was hit three times.

Their defense was very good, but their offense was even better. Dallas’ Dak Prescott completed 21 out of 27 passes, gaining 239 yards and a score. He also threw one interception. He also had a lot of help.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott gained 111 yards and scored a touchdown. He also caught six passes. Five passes were caught by Amari Cooper for 106 yards. Brett Maher kicked a 63-yard field goal within the first half, one of three he made that night.

The NFC East title race between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys will go on for the rest of the 2023 season. The second of two games between the teams could be very important for the division.

Dak Prescott threw three touchdowns and 374 yards for the Cowboys in Week 9. They kept things interesting. The Cowboys were almost able to score the winning touchdown on the last play. Instead, Philly won 28–23 and got away.

The Eagles (10-2) have pretty much stayed in the game since then, but it looks like both teams are going in different ways.

Since then, the Eagles’ offense has been all over the place, and the play of Jalen Hurts has been criticized in some interesting ways.

The Cowboys got the first kickoff, and KaVontae Turpin returned it. They then just kept moving, using their quickness to beat the Eagles’ defense.

Dak threw the last pass of the drive to Lamb, who scored a touchdown from 13 yards out. This showed again how free Lamb is from Philly corners.

Since Dez Bryant, another No. 88 player from Dallas, Lamb is the first player in five straight games to score a catching touchdown.
