Straight to the heart of Davies

2022 is not being the year of Bayern Munich. After losing half the team due to a wave of Ómicron in the squad and losing in the first game of the second round in the Bundesliga against Gladbach (1-2), the six-time European champion suffered another severe setback. As revealed by his coach Julian Nagelsmann during the press conference prior to this Saturday’s league clash against Cologne at home, Alphonso Davies is suffering from symptoms of myocarditis that makes him a long-term player.

“In Phonzie’s case, our follow-up of all players who have had coronavirus has revealed signs of mild inflammation of the heart muscle. He will not be able to train until further notice and will not be available for the next few weeks. He has to fully recover now. From the ultrasound, it’s not that dramatic, it’s just symptoms. However, it has to pause”, stressed a Nagelsmann that, in this way, he will not be able to count on the best side of his squad for quite some time.

It is not clear whether myocarditis is a direct consequence of the coronavirus, although, as confirmed by Nagelsmann himself, the probability of this being the case is high. There is no doubt about the danger involved, so the Bundesliga champion will not take any risks, he will separate Davies from all physical activity and put him in the hands of his medical department so that everything ends in a scare. In addition to the Canadian, Nagelsmann will also be without Coman, Goretzka, Stanisic (all injured), Choupo-Moting, Sarr (both in the Africa Cup) and Lucas (in quarantine).

Aubameyang, Meyé and Lemina, with heart injuries

The Football Federation of Gabon has announced that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meyé and Mario Lemina were not available to play this Friday’s game against Ghana. The reason is that according to the CAF medical commission, the three players, who have just come out of Covid, would have heart damage. The African Football Confederation does not want to take any chances.
