Vinicius, Benzema and… Real Madrid is looking to resolve the suspensive points in this summer market in which Bale and Isco have left, Asensio is expected to do so and in which they are looking for a companion for Rodrygo to close their attacking trident after the refusal and the renewal of Kylian Mbappé by Paris Saint-Germain.
As AS learned, Serge Gnabry is one of the options that the white club manages, but, from England, Ray Parlour, Arsenal legend, wanted to advise Real Madrid on the signing of Raheem Sterling, a Manchester City player.
“I see a lot of players thinking about trying a different League, another culture and I think Raheem might be thinking about it. He has one year left on his contract and it’s unbelievable. He looks like he’s 30 but he’s only 27. He is at his best and he doesn’t play regularly because City have a lot of very good players.” Parlor began in Talksport to define the situation in which the attacker finds himself within Manchester City.
Parlor did not fail in the diagnosis as Sterling is the ninth player who accumulates the most minutes in Manchester City with 3088 distributed in 47 games. It’s not little playing time, but he does have attacking partners ahead like Foden, De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva and serious competition behind with Grealish or Mahrez, little different from the Englishman. Even so, this has become the third top scorer with 17 goals in all competitions only surpassed by the aforementioned Belgian (19) and Algerian (24).
With that strong performance and looking for a bigger role, Parlor sees Sterling succeeding at the Bernabeu if given the opportunity. Real Madrid surprised everyone this year. “I expected them to win LaLiga but not the Champions League. Winning City, Liverpool and Chelsea being two of the best in the world at the moment, it’s an incredible season. Rudiger is going to Real Madrid, they are stepping up now and Sterling would be a great signing for them. We forget that he is 27 years old and has a long career left, but surely Guardiola knows how important it is. He is a player of big games and we saw him in the European Championship with England. If he decides to leave, I’m sure he would do a great job at Real Madrid if he went there.”
Raheem Sterling was one of Manchester City’s great star signings. They snatched him from Liverpool, where he stood out in just five years after coming from the Queens Park Rangers youth academy. The skyblues trusted to pay 63.7 million euros when their market value stood at 40 million.
His performance was good, but it rose with the arrival of Guardiola, in whose game he gradually integrated and reached the best figures of his career. As Parlor points out, the ‘overbooking’ of City stars could lead him to seek his future away from the Etihad and this sees him at Real Madrid.
