‘Stella’ and ‘Titia’ win the Xacobeo Trophy in Sanxenxo

MADRID, 20 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Violeta Álvarez’s ‘Stella’, in the Open division, and Alicia Freire’s ‘Titia’, in Classics, won this Sunday in their respective classes at the Xacobeo Trophy, the first series of the 6-a-side Spanish Cup circuit Meters and disputed in Sanxenxo (Pontevedra).

In the Open, with up to six teams with podium options, the Spanish boat ‘Stella’, owned by Violeta Álvarez, with a flag from the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo and with Pablo Iglesias from Vigo among its ranks, won after applying the tiebreaker over the Portuguese ‘Scondrel One’ of the Portuguese Gonçalo Ribeiro, who has among his crew the A Coruña ‘Chuny’ Bermúdez de Castro. Both teams tied on six points overall after three days of competition.

The third position on the podium went to the Swedish ‘Filippa’ of Richard Göransson, who despite winning one of the races was only one point away from the tie in the lead. For his part, the Portuguese ‘Slejm’ de Patrick, historical dominator of this division in the Spanish Cups, had to settle for fourth place despite having won the first round on Friday.

Meanwhile, Alicia Freire’s ‘Titia’ (RCNS), with Olympic medalist Nicolás Rodríguez in their ranks, gave the surprise in the Clásicos, putting an end to the dominance of José Cusí’s ‘Bribon 500’ in recent years and after also applying the tiebreaker system with Miguel Lago’s ‘Alibaba II’. The ‘Bribon 500’, skippered by Pedro Campos, climbed to the third position of the podium.

The next appointment of the 6 Meter Spanish Cup will be between April 22 and 24 again in the waters of Sanxenxo, a test in which it is expected that the national and foreign fleet will continue to increase in the face of the great sailing test. in Galicia in 2022, the Xacobeo 6mR Worlds, a World Cup that will be held between June 10 and 18 and that will touch the fifty registered teams.
