The German rider Stefan Bradl will be in charge of replacing the Spanish Marc Márquez in the Repsol Honda at the Grand Prix of the Americas, the third round of the Motorcycle World Championship that will take place this weekend at the COTA in Austin (United States), according to The team confirmed this Wednesday.
The eight-time world champion will not be able to race this Grand Prix to continue his recovery from the injury to his right hand that occurred in Portimao during the first race of the championship and which already caused him to be absent in Argentina.
In Termas de Río de Hondo he was not replaced and it happened that there was no official Honda on Sunday since the other rider, Joan Mir from the Balearic Islands, fell during the sprint race suffering a head injury and was unable to compete.
Bradl, a Repsol Honda tester, arrives in Austin, where he was fourth in 2014, after having carried out a test on Monday and Tuesday at the Circuito de Jerez Ángel-Nieto with the aim of improving the performance of the Japanese motorcycle.
“First of all, I want to wish Marc all the best in his recovery. I arrive in Austin after a few days of testing in Jerez where we have been able to test some things with the bike. It will be interesting to ride again in COTA, I was there for the last time racing in 2016 and it will give me the opportunity to test the 2023 RC213V on a very different type of track compared to what I have ridden so far this year.
