Sports Day 2022 invites the people of Madrid to “sweat the shirt” for a more sustainable planet

MADRID, 19 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The city of Madrid will celebrate Sports Day this Saturday, which this year is committed to “a more sustainable planet” under the slogan ‘Sweat the shirt! Our goal is a more sustainable planet, win a better future and golden health’.

“The objective is to turn sport into a tool for ecological transition”, explained the head of the Madrid City Council’s Delegated Area for Sport, Sofía Miranda. “The integration of sports practice in the Sustainable Development Goals makes it possible to clearly detect how sport becomes a catalyst for the socio-economic fabric and an instrument for applying socially responsible management policies”, she continued.

‘Sweat the shirt! Our goal is a more sustainable planet, a better future and golden health’ is the motto chosen for 2022, in which the city holds the title of World Capital of Sport.

The City Council invites citizens “whatever their age, ability or physical condition” to attend the conference to “enjoy sustainable sports activities”, in which they will be able to try all the new proposals of the City Council, practice urban sports or attend games that the team of professionals from the Delegated Sports Area, organizer of the event, will propose to the attendees.

Participants in the Sports Day will be able to exercise in new trends in urban sports such as parkour, skate, BMX, or plogging, or enjoy functional training in one of the Cubo Gyms that exist in Madrid.

The day, which will take place in the Juan Carlos I park, will feature music and entertainment, and will take place in a festive, inclusive and intergenerational environment that will pay special care and attention to health and the environment.

During it, in collaboration with the Spanish Safe Sport Foundation, Madrid Health and the Environment and Mobility Area, various activities focused on health will also be carried out, such as functional assessment, games on food and healthy habits, climate change workshops, stress tests, health tests, back workshops or waste management awareness activities.

Miranda encourages all men and women from Madrid “to participate in the most important day for Madrid’s sports”, a day “to practice physical exercise, as a way of keeping fit and, at the same time, taking care of our environment”.
