Spanish canoeing achieves two golds in the World Cup

The rain of medals continues in Duisburg: four more this Saturday and there are nine in total

MADRID, 26 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish canoeing team achieved another four medals this Saturday in the Olympic Sprint World Championship being held in Duisburg (Germany), with the first two golds thanks to victories in the men’s K2 500 and C4 500.

Spain continues adding medals in Duisburg. After five o’clock yesterday, on this fourth day two golds, one silver and one bronze arrived. The first of the world titles was achieved by the K2 1000 duo of Iñigo Peña and Pedro Vázquez.

The second of them was somewhat more expected, with the Spanish C4 500 defending the title with Manuel Fontán, Pablo Graña, Joan Antoni Moreno and Adrián Sieiro, dominating the test without question.

The third of the medals was the silver of the C2 500 of María Corbera and Antía Jácome. The Spanish couple also got a place for that boat to be in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Antía’s third medal after her double on Friday.

The last of the metals of the day was added by Carlos Garrote aboard the K1 in the distance of 500 meters. The man from Zamora had to wait for the photo and by hundredths he finally finished in bronze. For his part, Higinio Rivero managed to put his boat in the Paralympic Games next summer, fifth in his VL2 200 final.
