Spain wins ‘in extremis’ against England and gets into the final of the women’s European sub-17

MADRID, 23 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish under-17 soccer team won this Tuesday 3-1 against England, thanks to two goals in the final stretch of the match, and thus agreed to the final of the women’s European Championship of the category, which is being played in Tallinn (Estonia).

Vicky López opened the scoring with a header in minute 5, thanks to a beautiful personal move by Cristina Redondo on the right side of the attack; She rushed to the bottom line and executed a cross to her partner, who finished off having slipped between the rival centrals.

Although the English team tied at the start of the second half, thanks to Reid also finishing off a side free kick with a header, Spain took the victory ‘in extremis’ with goals from Ainoa Gómez (88′) and Pau Comendador (90+ 1′).

In the final match for the title, the Spanish players will face off against France, who in the other semifinal showed great power by beating Switzerland 10-2 emphatically. Three of those goals carried the signature of Maeline Mendy.
