Spanish football will open its transfer market on July 1, the same day as German and weeks after English and French will be the first of the five major European leagues, both on June 10.

The last update of the FIFA on transfer periods around the world, affected in part by the COVID-19 pandemic and still conditioned by its evolution, reflects that the Spanish league will have a first transfer period that will start on Wednesday, July 1 and will end on Tuesday, September 1. The second period or Spanish winter market will run from Monday, January 4, 2021 to Monday, February 1.

In the case of Spanish women's football, in which the league has been ended, the forecast is a first transfer period between July 1 and September 14 and a second between January 4 and February 1.

According to data collected by the International Transfer System (TMS), the start of the summer transfer period in Spain will coincide with that of Germany, which will also open on July 1 to close on August 31. The Bundesliga will again allow transfer operations from January 2 to February 1. Weeks before the Spanish and German football the market of England and France -one of the countries that decided to end its league competition due to the health crisis-. In France the winter market will be operational from January 2 of the year to February 1.

FIFA data does not provide the latest update to the Italian league, which a few days ago agreed to resume it on June 20, after having been unemployed since March 9 due to the pandemic. Before the ball rolls again in Serie A, Italy plans to play the semifinals of its Cup competition.

Portugal, which in four days will resume its league, will coincide with Spain in the opening of its market on July 1 and will be able to register new players until September 22. From January 5, 2021 to February 4, its winter market will be operational.

Among the earliest leagues in Europe to allow transfers are Sweden's, operational in this aspect from today, in addition to Dutch, Belgian, Norwegian, Danish, Russian, Czech, Turkish, Romanian, Austrian, Scottish and Swiss, all between June 9 and 21.
