Spain, to the quarterfinals of the U-19 World Cup in Madrid

MADRID, 19 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish women’s Under 19 basketball team prevailed (93-65) this Wednesday against Chinese Taipei to access the quarterfinals of the World Cup that is taking place in Madrid, where they will face Lithuania on Friday at the WiZink Center.

After a pristine group stage, the hostess added their fourth win in the tournament with the arrival of the crosses. At halftime, a 46-37 score reflected the good work of Spain, but at the restart, the Spanish team hit the table.

Iyana Martín was the best player in the match held at the Jorge Garbajosa Pavilion in Torrejón de Ardoz, with 14 points and a PIR of 24. Also, Carla Brito, with 19 points and 8 rebounds; Awa Fam (12 and 10), Inés Noguero and Elena Buenavida also signed great performances to give Spain a pass to the quarterfinals.

On Friday, at the Palacio de los Deportes in the capital, the hostess will seek the ticket to the semifinals against a Lithuania that this Wednesday beat Egypt (86-64) in Alcalá de Henares.
