Spain thrashes to start the European men’s field hockey

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s field hockey team thrashed Austria (5-0) this Sunday in their debut at the European Championship being held in Mönchengladbach (Germany).

Spain dominated their debut in the continental event from start to finish and sealed the match in the second quarter, in which they were able to materialize their superiority with three goals that gave them peace of mind to face the second part with enough margin.

Max Caldas’ men pressed up at the start and attacked without the goal prize until that second set. Quique González, Marc Miralles and Rafa Villalonga made it 3-0 that took the nerves out of the first game of the tournament ahead of the second part.

The Redsticks also resumed the match in an unbeatable way with a great goal from Joaquín Menini. Chefo Basterra, MVP of the match, rounded off the 5-0 that Spain was able to expand, a forceful staging to add confidence before the powerful Belgium on Monday.
