Spain stamps the passport for Paris 2024 for 49er, 49er FX, 470 Mixto and Nacra 17

MADRID, 16 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish sailing team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the 49er, 49er FX, 470 Mixed and Nacra 17 classes, during Wednesday’s day at the World Cup being held in The Hague (Netherlands). .

Among the seven country places that Spain has been defending for Paris 2024, four have been confirmed: Botín/Trittel (49er), Xammar/Brugman (470 Mixed) and Echegoyen/Barceló (49er FX) will be in the Medal Races, with clear options for medal in 49er and 470 Mixed.

The Spanish team already partially fulfilled its great objective in The Hague despite the late arrival of the wind, with postponements of more than three hours. 49er was the first class to finish the tests this Wednesday and the first to confirm the Spanish country place for the Olympic Games next summer.

Diego Botín and Florian Trittel began the day with a fourth place that kept them second overall with the possibility of stepping on the first step of the podium, but an offline in the second race put an end to those hopes. The Cantabrian-Catalan duo continued to fight to defend their position and closed the second day of the general classification, with no gold options.

Meanwhile, in 49er FX came the second place in the country for Spain and the entry of Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló in the Medal Race. The Galician-Balearic crew signed a 13-6-23 that places them in tenth place overall. Nacra 17 also gave Spain an Olympic ticket, with Tara Pacheco and Andrés Barrio in 11th place.

The 470 Mixed closed the haul with the Catalan crew of Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman in second place for the Medal Race after a spectacular comeback from seventh place. The Catalan Silvia Mas and the Galician Nico Rodríguez, who were fourth yesterday, fell to eleventh position, just two points from the Top10.
