MADRID, Jan. 22 (SportsFinding) –
The Spanish women's table tennis team will play the World Team Olympic final after winning a strong victory this Wednesday against Britain 3-0, a win that brings the ticket to the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.
The Spanish couple formed by Galia Dvorak and Sofía-Xuan Zhang began somewhat more hesitantly in the doubles match -which premieres format in this Olympic cycle- and gave the first set. However, the Spanish knew how to read the game to take advantage of its advantages and open the table as much as possible.
Sofia's left-hander synchronized with Galia's right, expanding the play area and maintaining a high level of concentration. In this way, Spain achieved three consecutive sets to get the first point of the tie against the Carey-Tsaptsinos duo.
Overcome the restlessness of the first game, and the novelty of starting with a doubles, favoritism against the British was increasing. Maria Xiao was ahead of Tin-Tin Ho (11-9), and increased the advantage by beating the British 11-3 and 11-8 in the subsequent sleeves.
For his part, Dvorak gave few options to Charlotte Carey in the third duel. The Spanish won 3-0 (11-5, 11-5 and 11-6) to seal the victory of the national team, which is only thinking of giving the maximum performance in its Friday game against Austria.
