Spain finishes eighth in the mixed springboard diving competition at the Doha World Cup

MADRID, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The team formed by Rocío Velázquez, Valeria Antolino, Nicolás Garcia Boissier and Carlos Camacho finished this Friday in eighth position in the mixed 3 and 10 meter springboard diving competition at the Swimming World Championships being held in Doha.

The Spanish quartet, which had been sixth last summer at the World Championships in Fukuoka (Japan), finished with 310.55 points, far from that 'Top 6' in a competition that was clearly dominated by Great Britain (421.65) ahead. from Mexico (412.80) and Australia (385.35).

“It was the first test and we were really looking forward to starting as well. We haven't done the best jumps, but it is a good set-up and a good run for the individual and synchronized jumps,” said Rocío Velázquez in statements provided by the RFEN.

The Spaniard acknowledged that there had been “some difference” in the scores, but attributed it to it being the first competition and did not give much importance to the fact that she had dropped two positions compared to the last World Cup. “It was the first test to warm up and we could have done better, but they are also things that happen and we have to continue,” she concluded.

“To start entering the competitions is very important and in that sense, good, but also improvable. Above all, it is to let go of nerves,” added Valeria Antolino, who comes with “very good expectations and with a clear objective” after of having trained “hard”.
