Comfortable Spanish victory (4-0) during the final played in Olot

The Spanish roller hockey team won its seventh consecutive European Women's Championship title this Saturday, eighth for its record, after beating Portugal 4-0 in the final of a tournament that was played throughout the week in Olot (Gerona).
This victory in the packed Pavelló Municipal d'Esports represented another historical record, since Ricard Muñoz's pupils became the first Spanish team to win seven European Championships in a row in any team sport.
In this event in Olot, the Spanish team finished its journey against the same opponent that it already had on December 4 during its debut. But if that time the Portuguese went ahead, on this occasion Spain kept its goal well protected by Anna Ferrer.
CP goalkeeper Esneca Fraga thwarted two good scoring opportunities that Portuguese captain Marlene Sousa had, spurring Spain to open the scoring through Aina Florenza. When the 11th minute was running, his shot from a distance surprised the rival goalkeeper.
A few minutes later, Marta González Piquero made it 2-0 from close range, after an assist from Sara González Lolo from the left side of the attack. Already in the second half, Piquero herself scored the third from a penalty and Anna Casarramona closed the victory in the last minute.
This result helped Spain win the gold medal in the 16th edition of the Women's European Championship, revalidating the title achieved two years ago in the city of Luso (Portugal). In the fight for bronze in this tournament, Italy beat France 0-3 and thus completed the podium.
