MADRID, 24 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish women’s volleyball team won (3-1) this Wednesday against Slovakia to achieve its second victory in the second day of the qualifying phase for the 2023 European Championship, held at the Palacio de los Deportes de la Guía de Gijon.
Led by Zoi Mavrommatis, the match’s top scorer, the Spanish won 25-23, 25-18, 13-25, 25-15. In a very close first set, the blocking work of Lucía Varela and the solid defense of the rest of the national team made the difference.
The second set began with Spain dominating the script, with María Shlegel and Mavrommatis, and the 2-0 went up with authority. However, Pascual Saurín’s pupils got complicated with a 13-25 in the third set. The ‘Leonas’ recovered their intensity and forcefulness, with Patricia Aranda in control until the final 3-1.
