Spain adds with Vilella 15 tennis players in the men's team

The representation of Spain in the men's team at Roland Garros increased this Friday with the classification of Mario Vilella, who came back to beat German Peter Gojowczyk in the third round of the preview: 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2 in 1h: 37. There will be 15 Navy tennis players who will debut in the first round between Sunday and Tuesday: the 11 who had a guaranteed place (Nadal, Bautista, Carreño, Ramos, Davidovich, Feliciano López, Andújar, Verdasco, Munar, Carballés and Pedro Martínez) plus the four classified (Taberner, Zapata, Vilella and Alcaraz).

Vilella will compete for the first time in the French major (on Sunday against his compatriot Roberto Bautista), since last year he was left out when he lost qualifying against Colombian Daniel Elahi Galán, which was one of the surprises of the tournament. It will be the third Grand Slam of the Elche, who has already been to the Australian Open twice (2020 and 2021), both times with a defeat in the first round.

The Spanish played with great precision (only 12 unforced errors) and better serve percentages than his rival, an aggressive tennis player who went from more to less and failed more than necessary, especially in the last two sets.
