The Spanish women’s and men’s teams added their respective second victories on Tuesday in the Padel World Championship that is being held in Doha after clearly beating Brazil and Chile 3-0.
The team led by Icíar Montes remains firm in its defense of the title, although it had more work than in its debut against Paraguay, especially in the first point that Patty Llaguno and Marta Ortega won against Raquel Piltcher and Manuela Shuck and decided by a tight 7 -6, 7-5.
From there, things were simpler and Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría made it 2-0 against Fernanda Abarzua and Gabriela Menna (6-2 and 6-1), and Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay did not give Leli Aguiar and Mariana options either. Altmayer (6-2 and 6-1). Japan will be their last rival in the group stage on Wednesday.
For its part, the men’s team led by Juanjo Gutiérrez had a more ‘friendly’ tie against Chile. Alejandro Galán and Arturo Coello defeated Ian Walker and Sebastián Muñoz (6-1 and 6-2), Juan Lebrón and Momo González did not give up a game against Claudio Santibáñez and Daniel Salinas (6-0 and 6-0), and Coki Nieto and Álex Ruiz could with Cristóbal Martínez and Cristóbal Molina (6-3 and 6-1). The Spanish will close this Wednesday against the United States.
