MADRID, 5 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis players Sara Sorribes and Cristina Bucsa have won the women’s doubles title of the Mutua Madrid Open, WTA 1,000 category, after beating the couple formed by the Czech Barbora Krejcikova and the German Laura Siegemund (6-) in the final this Sunday. 0, 6-2).

On the clay of the Caja Mágica, the Spanish duo achieved their most important title in the sport and the first for a national duo in the women’s category in Madrid, all after beating their rivals in one hour and 13 minutes of play.

Sorribes and Bucsa signed a ‘rosco’ in the first set, in which they defended themselves from the only break point they faced, and recovered to the 2-1 with which Krejcikova and Siegemund opened the second set. The Spanish team won five consecutive games to close the contest and take the title at home.

In this way, they become the first national tennis players to achieve the Madrid trophy in the women’s doubles category that eluded Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez, finalists in the 2014 and 2015 editions.
