MADRID, 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Slovakia beat the United States 2-1 this Tuesday to add its first victory in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, which are being played in Prague, and leave everything open in the group that is Spain, which will be measured this Wednesday to the Americans.
Viktoria Kuzmova again gave the Slovaks the first point by defeating Shelby Rogers 6-4 double, but Danielle Collins balanced the tie by beating Anna Karolina Schmiedlova 6-3, 6-2. Finally, the double formed by Kuzmova and Tereza Mihailikova beat the couple Coco Vandeweghe-Caroline Dolehide by 6-2, 6-7 (5) and 10-7.
In this way, and after playing their two group heats, Slovakia is left with a balance of one victory and one defeat, with 3-3 in points won and lost. Spain, which already has the victory against the Slovaks, is 1-0 and 2-1 before facing this Wednesday the Americans, who are 0-1 and 1-2.
If Anabel Medina’s team wins, it will go to the semifinals, an option that could also occur in case of losing, but taking one of the three matches, which would cause a triple tie in which the sets and the games won would come into play. The United States qualifies if they take all three points.
