Sinner wins in Miami and takes number two from Alcaraz

The Italian, without restraint in 2024, beat Dimitrov in the final

MADRID, 31 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner beat the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (6-3, 6-1) to win the Miami tournament this Sunday, the second Masters 1,000 of the season, launched with his third title in 2024 and beating the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in the world ranking.

Sinner struck down his rival in just over an hour by winning in Miami, after two lost finals, and continuing the streak of a season that began by winning the Australian Open and continued with another trophy in Rotterdam. After falling in the semifinals of Indian Wells, precisely against Alcaraz, the Italian reached the top in Miami to become number two in the world.

The fittest tennis player on the circuit, at 22 years old, started by saving a break ball, but his attack was much more forceful, very uncomfortable for the Bulgarian, who gave up his serve twice (6-3). The Italian no longer conceded and maintained a high pace and precision for a severe 6-1 with which he made the third time the charm in Florida (United States).

Sinner, with a 22-1 this season, completed his stalking of Alcaraz in the rankings, taking away the number two position as he also tried unsuccessfully in Indian Wells two weeks ago. For Dimitrov, the Spaniard’s executioner in the quarterfinals, it was not the best ending for a tournament that returns him to the ‘Top 10’ in the world five years later.
