Sinner surrenders to Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz continues to amaze the tennis world in his first season as a professional on the ATP circuit. His latest achievement has been the victory in the Masters 1,000 in Paris against another tennis player who aims to be one of the great rackets to follow in the future, the Italian Jannik Sinner, who this week has sneaked into the Top-10 for the first time of the ATP ranking.

A feat that even Sinner himself was able to applaud before the daring of the young Spanish tennis player. Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Italian tennis player assured that he already knew Alcaraz’s talent when he beat him in an ATP Challenger Tour match in 2019 and hopes that this duel will be reissued on more occasions. “It was not my best day, but I hope we can play many more games. I knew he was going to be a top player when I played him in 2019 on the ATP Challenger Tour. You feel that these types of players have something special, I’m sure. “

Sinner was also asked about his options to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, a mission that is complicated after this defeat. “Now it depends on what the others do. I knew I had to go far and try to win here as much as possible, but it couldn’t be. As long as there are options to be there, I will give it a try, and I hope to play in Stockholm. “

The Italian also had to answer whether the controversial loss to Frances Tiafoe in the Vienna semifinals had influenced him. “It didn’t influence me. The next day I flew and trained in Paris. It would be nice to forget what happened but all I can do is get up and go back to training tomorrow.”

Finally Sinner confessed what he said to Alcaraz at the end of the game and that made the Murcian smile. “I just told him that I was looking forward to playing him again and that we have more battles in the future.” A battle that could take place in the Next Gent ATP Finals if Sinner finally decides to attend the tournament in the event of being left out of the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.
