Sinner and Dimitrov will fight for the title in the Miami final

MADRID, 30 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian Jannik Sinner and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov will play the final of the Miami tournament (United States), the second Masters 1,000 of the season, after beating the Russian Daniil Medvedev (6-1, 6-2) and the German Alexander Zverev ( 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-3), respectively, in their semifinal matches.

In the repeat of the 2024 final of the North American competition, the transalpine, second favorite and player with the most ATP victories of the season, needed only one hour and nine minutes to defeat the current champion. In fact, he fended off all three of Medvedev’s break point opportunities.

Sinner started with a 5-0 lead that barely allowed the reaction of his rival, who took 31 minutes to score his first goal in the sixth game (5-1). However, it was too late to fight for a first set that fell to the Italian’s side. Two new breaks in the second round set the victory on track for the Italian, who will play in his fourth ATP Masters 1,000 final and his third in Miami (2021, 2023 and 2024).

His rival will be Dimitrov, who will return to the world’s ‘Top 10’ after beating Zverev. The Bulgarian, the executioner of the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals, ended the match’s parity by breaking in the last game of the first set to take the set.

Also tied was the second set, resolved in the tie-break in favor of the German tennis player, who condemned the match to the third and final set. In it, Dimitrov achieved, with a break, a decisive 4-3 advantage that allowed him to reach the third ATP Masters 1,000 final and his first in Miami.
