Roland Garros will not be able to see one of the great figures of women's tennis in action, the Romanian Simona Halep. Through a message on his social networks, Halep confirmed that he will not go to Paris this year due to the injury to his left leg that he suffered during the WTA 1,000 in Rome.
In the message Halep points out that the injury needs more time to heal completely and that there is very little time to go with guarantees to the Parisian appointment. “With all the pain in my heart I announce that I will not compete at Roland Garros this year. Unfortunately the tear in my left leg needs more time to recover. and the deadline to get to the tournament is very short. “
Halep admits that it hurts her to have made that decision, although she thinks it is the bestr decision, and rules out setting a return date until she's fully recovered. “Withdrawing from a Grand Slam goes against my character and my aspirations as athletes but it was the only correct decision I could make. Thinking that I will not be in Paris makes me feel very sad, but I will focus all my energies on recovering, staying positive and getting back on track as soon as I am healthy to do so.
