Simeone: “We are going to have to make a big effort until the end of the year”

“The team needs a strong Morata”

MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone, has assured that the team will have to make “a big effort” until the end of the year, with five matches scheduled, starting with this Sunday's match against Almería at the Cívitas Metropolitano, and has explained that they need “the forceful Morata” to be able to find their best version.

“One thinks in the first instance about the game. As we play what we have, especially because of the Sevilla game that was delayed at the time, it will take us to play every three days. We play five games in 13 days. It's going to be a great effort and we are going to need all of them. We must always think about the game we are going to play,” he declared at a press conference.

Furthermore, he explained that after the defeat against FC Barcelona they are focusing “on improving defensively and offensively.” “Not from last Sunday's defeat, but knowing that this week we can do what we need. The team is working well and I hope we see it with success on the field,” he stressed.

The Argentine coach also appealed not to trust himself against the bottom of the category. “Everyone can think what they want to think. The objective is to continue along the path and take the game to where we believe we can hurt them. We face an opponent who has needs, as we have them too. We hope to play a good game “he indicated.

On the other hand, he downplayed Álvaro Morata's streak of four games without scoring. “He can explain it very well. I see it very well, he is working for what the team needs. He is a very important player for our team. The other day he had only one, a cross from Llorente in which they could not coordinate. “We need to generate chances for him. Morata needs the team and the team needs the strong Morata,” he said.

In another order of things, 'Cholo' also explained why he combines Nahuel Molina and Marcos Llorente in the left lane. “Opinions are respected. In certain games it generates speed and physical strength in that sector. That's why we do it,” he said.

Finally, he spoke about the status of the Argentine Ángel Correa. “I see him very well. The other day he entered the second half very well, he had goal situations. He is working as always. He is having more minutes and he is taking advantage of them. He has to find what every footballer wants, which is the goal, which will surely come,” he concluded.
