Simeone: “The issue is not that the VAR audios are leaked but what happens with them”

MADRID, 24 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone, commented this Wednesday that the problem with the VAR audios “is not that they leak” but rather what “happens to them”, as has happened with those of the duel between Real Madrid and UD Almería, and he said that problems are coming because “things are starting to be unnatural”, while he was cautious about the Copa del Rey quarter-final match against Sevilla despite the moment the Sevilla team is going through.

“I think the referees are going through a moment of great pressure, for sure. The VAR improves them, but at the same time it exposes them. Afterwards we start to discuss whether the audios are okay, although the question is not whether they leak them, but what “It happens to them. They think we're all stupid and it makes us angry,” said Simeone in the press conference prior to the quarterfinal match between Atlético de Madrid and Sevilla at the Metropolitano.

Furthermore, the Argentine coach commented that what everyone needs is “the peace of mind that things are natural.” “We cannot all make mistakes because we are not perfect, even having the possibility of VAR. Now, when things start to be unnatural, obviously people get nervous, and as soon as there is a situation in the area… The referees They are already collapsed, and it is a very complicated moment for them,” he concluded.

Regarding the state in which Sevilla reaches the tie, the Argentine explained that they are in a moment of “need”, but that they have “good footballers” and a coach who “knows the house and is very intelligent.” “The best game was played in Getafe in the last round due to the result and the game that was seen,” he noted.

A Simeone who sees his team “growing” and improving in “some specific situations” that need improvement. “We must go game by game as always because there is no other way. We have to move forward, tomorrow we have a tough opponent, and obviously we hope to do things well,” he said.

Regarding Álvaro Morata, the rojiblancos' top scorer, he praised his “growth.” “It's not just the goals, he has had a very important growth for him and consequently for the team,” celebrated the 'Cholo'.

Finally, he had words of affection for Reinildo Mandava, who has finished his participation in the Africa Cup with Mozambique with whom he has returned to play after overcoming a serious knee injury. “The important thing is that he is back, something he didn't have when he went to the competition. For us he was always an important player, let's hope that when it's his turn, wherever it's his turn, he gives us his enthusiasm, his passion, his dedication, his commitment, that has always distinguished him,” he concluded.
