Simeone: “I absolutely trust the quality and the game of Lemar”

Atlético's coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, has appeared telematically before the media after his team's victory (2-0) against Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Do you think there is a team makeover between the two sides?

In the games we have played, I do not agree that there has been a great difference between the first half and the second. In the first half they were superior, although they did not have many goal situations. We, without playing a great game in that period, had two important ones. At halftime we talked and the changes improved the speed of circulation in midfield. The goal appeared and in the second half we played the game with which we felt most comfortable. Beyond the expulsion, the team showed that it had the game on track.

Has Lemar's credit run out?

No. I'm going to death with my players until the end. Lemar is working to improve. In Vigo he played an important game and in Munich he did well. Today he had alternatives, with good things at the beginning with others that were not so good, but like the whole team in the first half. I absolutely trust his quality and his game. Obviously I will continue betting on him because he is a footballer of ours and mine are mine until the last day.

Have you done rest or technical rotations? Are you considering not doing them?

It is part of the decisions we have to make as coaches for the amount of game we have to play. I wanted to put Carrasco less than what I put him because in Munich he played very well and made a great effort. Unfortunately he was injured and we are going to lose him now. Sometimes, even if you have to remove a footballer who is doing very well, I compensate with another who I think is there to play and who will do things accordingly to win the game. Later the result will give me the reason or I will be criticized because that is what we have daily.

I don't think I have it because in football I don't think that absolutely no one has the reason. When you get to a club, what the club wants is to win. If you can win by playing extraordinarily well, it is much more beautiful, but I have not met any fan who wants to draw or lose. Obviously everyone wants to win by playing well, liking it and scoring a lot of goals, but sometimes everything that one is excited about cannot be and remains with the most important thing that this has.

Are you cautious on the right side and front?

Yes, I am concerned and I take care of all the details because football is a sum of details. We will try to find the best situations to balance and compete. When a new game comes, you have to win and we have to generate that situation based on the players we can put in. We will always seek the best for the club and for the team.
