Seville will host the Finals of the Billie Jean King Cup 2023

MADRID, 10 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) confirmed this Wednesday that Seville will host the Finals of the Billie Jean King Cup 2023, the highest competition for women’s teams, which will be held between November 7 and 12 and for which Spain is classified.

In this way, Andalusia will be one of the tennis epicenters of the month of November, since between the 21st and the 26th, the José María Martín Carpena in Málaga will once again host the final phase of the Davis Cup Finals.

As part of the agreement, Seville, with the venue yet to be decided, will host the Billie Jean King Cup finals over the next two years, with the option of extending for a third. In addition, the ITF has also awarded Córdoba the Junior Finals of the BJKC and the Davis Cup

This will be the sixth time that Spain hosts the final of the Billie Jean King Cup, which celebrates 60 years since it was held for the first time in June 1963, for the first time since 2008, when they were held at Club de Campo Villa from Madrid with a 4-0 victory over Russia, although then it was with the old format.

“Andalusia has earned the right to be a privileged destination to host important international sporting events. Everyone wants to come to our land, due to the warm welcome we give to athletes and for having first-rate facilities for practicing sport, for what is a satisfaction that the ITF has once again trusted us so that the Community becomes the first to host the Davis and BJKC finals in the same year, as well as the junior category of both events”, celebrated Arturo Bernal, Andalusian Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

For his part, David Haggerty, president of the ITF, was “delighted” with this decision. “The region has a rich history of hosting fantastic tennis events of all levels and we are very confident that the region will do justice to the prestige of each of our events,” he underlined.

“Throughout the various stages of each event this year, we have seen how much it means to players, both professional and junior, to represent their countries, and I have no doubt that this passion will shine through in November,” he added. the leader.
