Sevilla was the last rival that saw the public in the Metropolitan

He Atlético de Madrid receive this Tuesday at Seville in the Wanda Metropolitano. A meeting of the greats of LaLiga in which the rojiblanco team will try to get the victory to stand out even more at the top of the ranking, while the Hispanics will look for a victory to reengage in the fight for the title.

The last time that Sevilla visited the colchonero fiefdom was on March 7, 2020. A day that will be remembered no longer for the game itself, but because it was the last time the Metropolitano opened its doors to Atlético fans.

More than 60,000 people gathered that cold March afternoon at the Madrid Coliseum. Nobody imagined that it would be the last game with an audience in the Metropolitan, which ten months later, still does not receive fans. That day, people with masks were already seen in the stands, when their use was not widespread, much less mandatory.

A few days later, Atlético played in Liverpool the return of the knockout stages of the Champions League, also with an audience, although the decision was not made until the last minute. More than 3,000 mattresses were at Anfield. Two days later, Spain decreed the State of Alarm, which entered into force on March 14. Football stopped due to the coronavirus, who returned to Spain in June, already without fans in the stadiums, something that remains today in professional football (First and Second division).

Going back to that March 7, Atlético and Sevilla tied two goals in the Metropolitano. De Jong overtook those of Lopetegui in 19 ', Morata tied a penalty in the 32nd minute, Joao Felix put the rojiblancos ahead in 35 'and, before the break, Ocampos, also from eleven meters, he achieved the equalizer that would already be final.
