Sevilla, Rayo, Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Elche want to avoid surprises in the Cup

MADRID, 14 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla, Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Elche face the second round of the Copa del Rey for the LaLiga Santander teams this Wednesday, with the aim of avoiding surprises against lesser clubs and qualifying for the sixteenth end of the competition.

After the placid previous round for the First Division teams, with goals and solid victories, they hope not to suffer too much to continue with the ‘cupbearer’ dream, with Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Villarreal as three of the great favorites to reach the final .

Those from Lopetegui visit Andratx, the Second RFEF team, which beat Real Oviedo (2-1) to advance to the thirty-second finals of the Cup. One of their main assets will be the local field, made of artificial grass, with additional stands and all tickets already sold days before the game. The Sevilla fans beat Córdoba in the previous round with a goal in Ocampos extra time.

For its part, Real Sociedad will play the pass to the sixteenth against a historic Zamora, in the First RFEF, who got rid of Extremadura with solvency (1-4) and who will face the beautiful challenge of standing up to the current champion of the competition. Those of Alguacil have had four games without a win in LaLiga Santander, but will be boosted by their move to the Europa League playoff and their comfortable victory over the modest Panaderías Pulido in the Copa del Rey.

Another of the great favorites to lift the title is Villarreal, on a roll after beating Atalanta to reach the second round of the Champions League and beat Rayo Vallecano 2-0 in the league. It seems that the results return to smile to a team that had already been displaying very good football. He will face Atlético Sanluqueño, from the First RFEF, also in a good moment, after beating Cornellà (4-0) and beating Sabadell in the previous Cup round, leaving a clean sheet (2-0).

Rayo Vallecano faces an, a priori, affordable Bergantiños, who remains far from the ‘playoffs’ of the Second RFEF and who beat Tudelano in the previous round. Madrid, who live in a cloud in the league thanks to the great game played with Iraola, hope to keep their aspirations alive in the ‘KO’ tournament, after advancing to thirty-second after beating Guijuelo on penalties.

The last match of a ‘Primera’, and one of the attractions of this phase, will be the Unionistas-Elche, with a local team, supported by Las Pistas del Helmántico, which has not won in Primera RFEF since October 10, but beat Algeciras 1-2 to enter the thirty-second of the Cup. Elche has just lost the derby against Valencia in LaLiga Santander, although it was able to beat Leioa (0-2) in the previous round of the ‘cupbearer’ tournament, with an improved image since the arrival of Francisco Rodríguez to the bench.

This round of 30s will be completed by six matches between LaLiga Smartbank teams, except Cultural Leonesa-Leganés and Castellón-Cartagena. Thus, Ponferradina, undefeated in the last five games, will host UD Ibiza, which has joined six games without losing as a visitor, and which reaches this round after beating Brea 0-2.

An interesting Valladolid-Las Palmas will be played at the José Zorrilla Stadium, two teams housed in the upper area of LaLiga Smartbank, while an injured Sporting de Gijón hopes to end the penalties and advance to the round of 32 of the Cup against an Alcorcón that neither does it lift its head.

Finally, a Tenerife-Eibar with a Primera flavor will close the qualifying rounds on Wednesday. The locals beat the modest Ibiza Pitiusas Islands in overtime, while the ‘armeros’ beat Guernika 1-2.
