Sevilla plays the ‘Champions’ in Dortmund

Those from Sampaoli finalize their opportunity to fight for second place

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Sevilla FC travels to Signal Iduna Park this Tuesday to face Borussia Dortmund, in a duel on matchday four of the Champions League group stage marked by the opportunity for the team from Seville to rejoin a second place held by the Germans , and that they will try to consolidate in advance.

In a group in which Manchester City has a shot at qualifying, with a full victories, that second ticket to the round of 16 points to Dortmund. Those of Edin Terzic, with 6 points, have it reserved but not tied. For this reason, Sevilla, with only one unit, never gives up and does not give up on an objective that is more complicated each day.

A victory away from home would add pressure to a group that, on the other hand, could leave the places of the continental competition sentenced, with the Europa League place only to be disputed between Seville and Copenhagen. But Jorge Sampaoli dreams big and wants to become the catalyst that Nervión needs in his return.

The Argentine coach returned to sit on the Andalusian team’s bench this Saturday, after doing so in the 2016/17 season, and began his new stage with a draw against Ahtletic Club. Some green shoots were seen, especially in the first few minutes, but it ended up being similar to other days and retaining a point due to the large number of missed chances by the Basques.

Now it remains to be seen if they will be able to show a totally different face from that of the last ‘Champions’ match against Borussia, who ‘fired’ Julen Lopetegui by passing through Pizjuán like a cyclone and endorsing a 1-4 to the Seville. A massive defeat that condemned the Basque coach and practically Sevilla in the Champions League.

The Andalusian team will not be able to count on Óliver Torres, scorer of the first and until now only goal of the second Sampaoli era, as he is not registered in the ‘Champions’. Another of the essential casualties will be that of Brazilian midfielder Fernando Reges, who is still not available for his new coach.

The good news is the physical condition of his compatriot Marcao, a signing that Lopetegui was unable to use as he was injured since the start of the season and who made his debut, precisely, under Sampaoli’s orders.

THE DORTMUND RECOVERS EFFECTIVES

Opposite, Dortmund arrives at the event toned with a level draw against Bayern Munich. In fact, the ‘borussers’ showed the strength of their ‘fortress’, who believed in theirs until the end despite losing 0-2 at game time. However, Youssoufa Moukoko, who signed two assists against Sevilla, closed the gap at 73′ and Modeste at 90+5′ achieved the final draw.

A point that allows them to maintain equality in the table with the Bavarians, both with 16 in third and fourth place in the Bundesliga respectively. Now, with the mentality set on ‘Champions’, they want to lighten their calendar, in which the DFB-Pokal will be played on October 19 against Hannover 96.

The Rhenish team has based its options on a compact block in the face of the fundamental loss of captain Marco Reus. However, this time they bring back central defender Matts Hummels, who missed the duel at Pizjuán last Wednesday due to a cold, and Giovanni Reyna and Thomas Meunier.

Up front, the young Moukoko, aged 17, points out as the leader of an attack together with Adeyemi and Brandt. In midfield, Bellingham, at 19 years old, has become the beacon of his team and will be accompanied by Emre Can and Ozcan, while in defense Hummels will once again lead the defense, so Süle and Schlotterbeck will fight for the other square.

In goal, Gregor Kobel is also targeting the starting eleven for the first time since the beginning of September: “He is our number 1. As soon as he tells us that he is one hundred percent, he will come back”, explained Edin Terzic.
