The Sunday session concluded this traditional Christmas championship with the semifinals, the consolation final and the title final. In the first ‘semi’, Real Madrid and Betis faced each other. The green and white team had already defeated Merengue 1-0 the day before to lead Group A, and on this occasion they repeated it in a match of great goals.
The Betis started strong and took the lead early with a long shot from Marcos. Real Madrid had not had time to react when another great goal from Selu arrived for Betis. The Madrid team looked for a comeback and improved in the second half, closing the gap with another great goal from Aliaksei Mayorau, but their rival withstood the pressure of stoppage time and became the first finalist.
The second ‘semi’ measured FC Barcelona against Sevilla FC, this time with a comeback and alternatives on the scoreboard. David overtook the Sevilla team taking advantage of his position as a forward, but Barça turned the result around thanks to the tournament’s top scorer, David.
The Catalans seemed close to winning, but in front they reacted when Pablo Bañez tied the score with a shot close to the post, and then another shot from Miranda touched a defender until it entered the culé goal, signing the final 2-3 that put the Seville in the final.
In the fight for third place, a single goal from Aliaksei Mayorau in the second half tipped the tied Clásico in favor of Real Madrid. And then came the Seville derby for the trophy. After a very even first half, in which there were few chances on both sides, Sevilla raised the level in the second half and managed to win.
David warned with a free kick that hit the post and a few minutes later he scored two goals that brought Sevilla closer to the title. Betis looked for a reaction, but it was Sevilla again that scored with a great goal from Óliver. That gave the title to those from the Seville youth team, who had already lost two finals of this event, the last in 2019.
